Literary & Eclectic

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska but grew up in Tazewell County, Virginia. Now, I live in Columbia, SC… but I’m home wherever I am. I went to Bluefield College, Virginia Tech and Franklin University. I have a BS in Psychology and Sociology, and I’ve completed Master’s work in marketing and communications. This has all come in handy in my 15 years of work in market research, that’s for sure!

I like to know the why of things — to understand what makes people tick and why they do what they do.  I also like interacting with different people and not doing the same thing day in and day out.  I like the challenge of solving problems – and I want to make people feel comfortable and at ease, and what I do at L&E brings all those various aspects together in one role.

In the day-to-day, outside of work I listen to music, walk the dog, talk to friends, cook or read. In general, though, I love to travel. I’ve planned vacation trips based on museum exhibits or Frank Lloyd Wright houses. I love hiking or kayaking – anything outdoors, really. Right now I’m thinking about an article I read about cliff diving in Oban, Scotland! I have a bucket-list of places I’d like to go and things I’d like to do that just continues to grow.

Insights About Me:

If I had a super power, I would probably want the ability to fly because airline flights are way too expensive to go where I want to go as often as I would like to go.

When I was little, I wanted to either be a writer or a veterinarian… and I really wanted to be a mom. I couldn’t stand dissection, so that ruled out being a vet; and, I needed to make a living, so that ruled out writing. So, I have always had pets, I still write (mostly for myself), and I have two great adult kids I am close to… so I guess I have it all!

I don’t think I have ever met a food I didn’t like – no wait, I don’t care for eel or haggis!

Ask me about my family, my pets, my college football team, where I am, where I’ve been and where I’m going… and we’ll have a great conversation.
